Mind the Gap

'Tis the season to over eat and spend so thought I'd try for something a little more uplifting and less consumer. I just finished watching HBO's Angels in America. All 6 hours of it ... and I didn't want it to end! Forget all about LOTR!

Tony Kushner is a freakin' literary god. Let's deify him. The thing that blew me away about this story is how not gay-centric it is. It's full of fucked up, believable characters who make horrible mistakes and then spout monologues rivaling, well, freakin' Shakespeare. As the Grand Poobah Asslicker James Lipton (Inside the Actor's Studio) and all those other nauseating Brit theater critics have already said, this play is more an indictment of American culture than anything else. The monologue Jeffrey Wright's, Norman, makes when he talks about living in America just broke my heart.

Namaste,
